A method and apparatus employing algorithms enabling cellular networks to determine the range of code transmit power in downlink, as well as uplink, power control. Two exemplary algorithms provide a determination of an appropriate transmit power range for each code so that when the transmit power of any code approaches an upper limit, the transmit power of the other codes can be adjusted to catch up with the dynamic range. Even though the two exemplary algorithms have functional similarities, in the second algorithm, the frequency of reconfiguration of code transmit power range is much less than the frequency of change of the number of codes. Both algorithms are applicable for use in all modes of transmission in UMTS systems.
Procédé et dispositif mettant en application des algorithmes permettant à des réseaux cellulaires de déterminer la plage de puissance de transmission de code en contrôle de puissance amont ou aval. Deux algorithmes cités à titre d'exemple, permettent de déterminer une plage de puissance de transmission appropriée pour chaque code, de sorte que, quand la puissance de transmission de tout code se rapproche d'une limite supérieure, la puissance de transmission des autres codes peut être réglée afin de s'adapter à la plage dynamique. Bien que ces deux algorithmes présentent des similitudes de fonctionnement, dans le deuxième algorithme, la fréquence de reconfiguration de la plage de puissance de transmission de code est considérablement inférieure à la fréquence de variation du nombre de codes. Les deux algorithmes peuvent être appliqués dans tous les modes de transmission des systèmes UMTS.
