A method and an arrangement for determining the presence of heat soak conditions in an internal combustion engine (1) of a type using fuel injection. Particularly useful when the or one of the fuels used in the engine (1) is susceptible to vaporisation in a fuel rail (8) due to high engine temperatures. The method includes the steps of measuring a first temperature in a tank (10) for the fuel, measuring a second temperature at the fuel rail (8), ascertaining the difference between the first and second temperature, wherein a significant difference indicates heat soak conditions. If heat soak conditions are detected then an auxiliary injector (20) may be operated or in dual fuel engines a higher boiling point fuel may be used.
L'invention concerne une méthode et un agencement pour mettre en évidence un état de surchauffe du carburant utilisé dans un moteur à combustion interne (1), pourvu d'un injecteur de carburant. L'invention est particulièrement utile lorsque le ou un des carburants utilisés dans le moteur (1) est susceptible de se vaporiser dans la rampe d'alimentation (8) en carburant, à cause de la température excessive du moteur. La méthode consiste à mesurer une première température dans le réservoir (10) à carburant et une seconde température dans la rampe d'alimentation (8) en carburant et à déterminer la différence entre les deux températures. Une différence importante indique une surchauffe du carburant. L'apparition d'une surchauffe peut déclencher le fonctionnement d'un injecteur auxiliaire (20) ou, dans des moteurs à deux carburants, le passage sur le carburant plus lourd.
