ABSTRACT The alcohol concentration in the blood is determined by analysing exhaled air. Air is exhaled through a respiratory tube (1) past sensing means (3) for determining the alcohol content (Ra) and the moisture content (Rwa) of the exhaled air. This determination is performed optically by measuring the absorbence, by the exhaled air, of light of different wavelengths, using two different filters (16, 17) on a filter wheel (15). The alcohol content of the exhaled air is calculated as a function of the term Image , where RWl is the moisture content of the ambien t air.
