Where a first communication service exhibits a first performance characteristic affecting communication quality and a second communication service exhibits both the first performance characteristic and a second performance characteristic not exhibited by the first communication service, a method for determination the effect of the second performance characteristic upon the quality of the second communication service comprising the steps: Establishing communications via the second communications service (702); Obtaining objective measures of the first performance characteristic as the second performance characteristic varies (704); Converting the objective measurement of the first performance characteristic into subjective rating based upon knowledge of the first communication service (706, 708, 710); Altering the subjective ratings to reflect the effects of the second performance characteristic by use of an assumed model for the effects of the second performance characteristic upon the subjective ratings of the first performance characteristic (712); Computing quality index values from the altered subjective ratings (712); and Adjusting the assume model to improve the correlation between the quality index values and the second performance characteristic (714)
Dans un contexte où un premier service de communication présente une première carastéristique de performance affectant la qualité de communication et un second service de communication présente à la fois la première caractéristique de performance et une seconde caractéristique de performance non présentée par le premier service de communication, l'invention concerne un procédé de détermination de l'effet de la seconde caractéristique de performance sur la qualité du second service de communication comprenant les étapes consistant à: établir des communications via le second service de communications (702); obtenir des mesures objectives de la première caractéristique de performance quand la seconde caractéristique de performance varie (704); convertir la mesure objective de la première caractéristique de performance en indice subjectif basé sur la connaissance du premier service de communication (706, 708, 710); altérer les indices subjectifs pour refléter les effets de la seconde caractéristique de performance au moyen d'un modèle présumé pour les effets de la seconde caractéristique de performance sur les indices subjectifs de la première caractéristique de performance (712); calculer les valeurs d'indice de qualité à partir des indices subjectifs altérés (712); et ajuster le modèle présumé pour améliorer la corrélation entre les valeurs d'indice de qualité et la seconde caractéristique de performance (714).
