ABSTRACT Phenolic and naphtholic compounds have been found to be useful as dye forming developers in photo- graphic silver halide constructions. The dye forming developers form dye images upon oxidation and do not require the presence of couplers in order to form the dyes. These developers may be used in developing baths or within the photographic emulsion.
