ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composition, method and apparatus for removing a presensitized, photosensitive coating, containing a resin- ous binder, form a lithographic plate substrate, including; contacting the coated substrate with a solution of a nonvola- tile glycol or glycol derivative, such as, high boiling gly- col, ether derivative thereof and liquid polymeric deriva- tives thereof, a surfactant, such as a non-ionic or anionic surfactant and, optionally, a high boiling solvent for such coating, such as an organic solvent, and/or an acid, for ex- ample, an organic acid or a mineral acid, at a temperature above ambient temperature, preferably about 60 to 110°C, and thereafter rinsing the plate with water, with or without brushing action, and preferably at a temperature above ambi- ent temperature, for example, 50 to 60°C.
