Featured are novel heterocycle substituted hydroquinones, aromatic copolymers and homopolymers bearing main and side chain polar pyridine units. These polymers exhibit good mechanical properties, high thermal and oxidative stability, high doping ability and high conductivity values. These novel polymers can be used in the preparation and application of MEA on PEMFC type single cells. The combination of the above mentioned properties indicate the potential of the newly prepared materials to be used as electrolytes in high temperature PEM fuel cells.

La présente invention concerne de nouvelles hydroquinones à substitution hétérocyclique, de nouveaux copolymères aromatiques et de nouveaux homopolymères portant des unités de pyridine polaires à chaînes principales et latérales. Ces polymères montrent de bonnes propriétés mécaniques, une stabilité thermique et à l'oxydation élevée, une aptitude élevée au dopage et des valeurs élevées de conductivité. Ces nouveaux polymères peuvent être utilisés dans la préparation et l'application de MEA sur des cellules uniques du type pile à combustible à membrane échangeuse de protons (PEMFC). La combinaison des propriétés mentionnées ci-dessus indique le potentiel des nouveaux matériaux préparés que l'on peut utiliser comme électrolytes dans des piles à combustible haute température à membrane échangeuse de protons (PEM).
