-24- DEVELOPMENT OF PLANT ROOTS Abstract of the Disclosure Beneficial growth of roots in dicotyledonous plants is achieved by genetic transformation with root-inducing A. rhizogenes, preferably the novel strain A. rhizogenes ATCC 39207. The A. rhizogenes not used to transform the plant is reduced to noninfective levels with A. radio- bacter, preferably A. radiobacter K-84.
