ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus in which a belt transports developer material into contact with a rigid member in a development zone to develop a latent image recorded thereon. The belt is maintained at a pre-selected tension. In this way, the developer material is compressed and spaces the belt from the rigid member.
