A DEVICE AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PIPES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A pipe is formed by the winding of a strip element onto a generally cylindrical winding cage formed by two concentric sets of rollers, the axes of which are inclined slightly to the generatrices of the cage. The rotation of the rollers winds the strip element in the cage along a generally helical path which has an axial translational component along the cage so that the pipe emerges from the cage through one of its end plates which has an annular hole for the purpose. A helical screw thread is applied to the outer surface of the pipe, which may have a laminated wall constituted by superposed layers of plastics material including recycled plastics material, so that successive portions of pipe can be connected with the interposition of threaded rings.
