A system and a method for controlling at least one physical property of a bed based on the state of a person staying in the bed. A lying part (102) in the bed is pro~vided with a plurality of sensors (106) adapted to continuously measure physical magnitudes as a measurement of the person's state. Measured values from the sensors are received, processed and analysed by a registration unit (104), for controlling physical properties of the bed.
