Spherical particles having a size on the order of 0.1 to 100 microns in size are created by systems and devices of several types. The device includes a source of a stream of gas which is forced through a liquid held under pressure in a pressure chamber with an exit opening therein. The stream of gas surrounded by the liquid in the pressure chamber flows out of an exit orifice of the chamber into a liquid thereby creating a monodispersion of bubbles with substantially uniform diameter. The bubbles are small in size and produced with a relatively small amount of energy relative to comparable systems. Small particles of liquid may also be produced. Applications of the technology range from oxygenating sewage with monodispersions of bubbles to inhalation therapy with monodisperse aerosol dispersions of pharmaceutically active drugs.
L'invention concerne des systèmes et des dispositifs de différents types permettant de créer des particules sphériques, dont la taille varie entre 0,1 et 100 microns. Le dispositif comprend une source de courant gazeux amenée à traverser un liquide gardé sous pression dans une chambre sous pression, laquelle présente un orifice de sortie. Le courant gazeux entouré de liquide à l'intérieur de cette chambre sous pression s'écoule sous la forme d'un liquide par l'intermédiaire de l'orifice de sortie de ladite chambre, créant ainsi une monodispersion de bulles d'un diamètre sensiblement uniforme. Ces bulles, d'une petite taille, sont produites à partir d'une quantité d'énergie relativement faible par rapport à celle de systèmes comparables, de petites particules de liquides pouvant également être produites. Cette technique peut par exemple être utilisée pour oxygéner des eaux usées au moyen de monodispersions de bulles, ou servir dans une inhalothérapie utilisant des dispersions d'aérosol monodispersé de médicaments pharmaceutiquement actifs.
