A device (100) for thinning lung secretions comprises a housing (102), a reed (104) disposed in the housing, and an acoustical resistance (106). The reed (104) produces a low-frequency audio shockwave when vibrated. The acoustical resistance (106) couples a patient's lungs to the audio shockwave and creates a back pressure of the low-frequency shockwave into a patient's lungs.
