Device and method for inserting an information carrier in a substrate. The information carriers are stored in a storage and with the aid of transfer means are removed one by one from said storage with the aid of vacuum. The transfer means then place the information carrier concerned in the insertion element, which then executes the insertion stroke. The invention is useful in the fields of labelling flats of bedding out plants or potted plants.
