A device is provided for measuring temperature in molten metals with an optical fiber. The optical fiber is connected directly or indirectly to a measurement instrument and is held by a carrier. The immersion end of the fiber is fed through a body that can be consumed in the metal melt. The consumable body exhibits a consumption rate of at most 10 cm/min, and the consumption rate is approximately equal to or greater than the rate at which the structure of the optical fiber is destroyed.

Un dispositif permet de mesurer la température des métaux en fusion avec une fibre optique. Cette fibre est raccordée directement ou indirectement à un instrument de mesure, et elle est tenue par un support. L'extrémité à immersion de la fibre est appliquée au moyen d'un corps pouvant se consumer dans le métal en fusion. Le corps consommable présente une vitesse de consommation d'au plus 10 cm/min, et cette vitesse de consommation est approximativement égale ou supérieure à la vitesse de destruction de la structure de la fibre optique.
