Abstract In order to reach the originally set web position again with a web movement control device after a tear in the web and renewed drawing-in of a web of material, sensors which can be adjusted independently of one another and can be coupled in such a way that the two sensors move synchronously in opposite directions are provided. As a result, during the edge search process, the two sensors can be adjusted separately and indepen- dently of one another and are moved synchronously in opposite directions for the centre control and after a tear in the web for the purpose of repositioning the sensors.
