The device and method serve to remove ice from an elongated structural element which has a closed outline. The device consists of pairs of electrically conductive insulated wires, preformed to roll up beside each other, along and around the structural element, following a spiral pathway, while leaving a certain amount of clearance between themselves and the outline of the structural element. The conducting wires receive electromagnetic impulses at one end, while their opposite ends are electrically connected to each other. The conducting wires are rated to carry a current which can generate a repelling power that forces the conducting wires apart with an intensity that is capable of breaking up the ice or frost on the structural element. The conducting wires have sufficient rigidity and elasticity to return to their original position around the structural element after being repelled apart.
Le dispositif et la méthode servent à déglacer un élément structural allongé à contour fermé. Le dispositif est formé de paires de fils électriquement conducteurs et isolés, préformés pour s'enrouler, l'un à côté de l'autre, le long et autour de l'élément structural en suivant une trajectoire hélicoïdale tout enépousant le contour de l'élément structural avec un certain jeu. Les fils conducteurs ont des bouts pour recevoir des impulsions électromagnétiques, et des bouts opposés connectés électriquement ensemble. Les fils conducteurs sont de calibre à supporter un courant provoquant une force de répulsion dont l'intensité est susceptible de briser de la glace ou du givre sur l'élément structural par l'éloignement des fils conducteurs l'un de l'autre en réponse à la répulsion. Les fils conducteurs ont des propriétés de rigidité et d'élasticité telles qu'ils retrouvent leur forme autour de l'élément structural après l'éloignement causé par la répulsion.
