The invention relates to a device for the determination an analyte in a sample of liquid, in particular, a sample of a body fluid with an analysis apparatus which is configured to analyse a sample of liquid after the latter has been applied to an analytical area of a test element prepared for an analysis of the sample of liquid and an apparatus conferring hydrophilic properties configured to confer hydkrophilic properties to a surface in the analytical area (4) for the preparation of the test element.
