Provided herein is a novel and useful device and method for locally delivering and controllably releasing oxybutynin in the cervical region of a female. A device of the invention comprises a ring comprising trifluoropropylmethyl/dimethyl siloxane elastomer. A pharmaceutical composition comprising oxybutynin and an excipient is placed within a bore located in the ring, wherein the bore runs from the surface of the ring into the ring. The ring has a sufficient size such that it can be inserted into the vaginal canal of a female. A cap comprising is placed over the bore at the surface of the ring in order to contain the pharmaceutical composition within the bore. When the ring is inserted into the vaginal canal, the trifluoropropylmethyl/dimethyl siloxane elastomer controllably releases and locally delivers a therapeutically effective amount of oxybutynin to the detrusor muscle to treat the female's urinary incontinence.
L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé destinés à administrer localement et à libérer de manière commandable de l'oxybutinine dans la région cervicale de la femme. Un dispositif selon l'invention comporte un anneau constitué d'élastomère de siloxane de trifluoropropyle méthyle/diméthyle. Une composition pharmaceutique contenant de l'oxybutinine et un excipient est placée dans un perçage pratiqué dans l'anneau, ce perçage s'étendant de la surface de l'anneau vers l'intérieur de l'anneau. L'anneau présente des dimensions suffisantes pour être introduit dans le canal vaginal d'une femme. Un bouchon est placé au dessus du perçage de l'anneau afin de contenir la composition pharmaceutique à l'intérieur du perçage. Lorsque l'anneau est introduit dans le canal vaginal, l'élastomère de siloxane de trifluoropropyle méthyle/diméthyle relâche de manière commandable et libère localement une quantité thérapeutique efficace d'oxybutinine au muscle détruseur afin de traiter l'incontinence urinaire chez la femme.
