The invention concerns a device comprising means for indicating a value representing current fatigue and means for modifying said value based on parameters related to the use of the odontological instrument. In a particular embodiment, the means indicating the fatigue value comprises a washer (16) connected to the instrument and provided with a certain predetermined number of detachable elements or pre-perforations (17). Depending on the use of the instrument, for example its diameter, its taper ratio, the curve of the dental canal to be excavated and the duration of the operation, a certain number of detachable elements are removed or a certain number of pre-perforations are perforated (17'). When the number of detachable elements or the number of pre-perforations (17) remaining on the device is less than the number of elements to be detached or perforated on the basis of the predetermined operational parameters, the odontological instrument should no longer be used. Said device enables to avoid the odontological instrument being broken in a dental canal.
Le dispositif selon l'invention comporte des moyens pour indiquer une valeur représentative de la fatigue actuelle et des moyens pour modifier cette valeur en fonction de paramètres liés à l'utilisation de l'instrument odontologique. Selon une forme de réalisation particulière, les moyens pour indiquer la valeur de la fatigue comportent une rondelle (16) liée à l'instrument et pourvue d'un nombre prédéterminé d'éléments détachables ou des préperforations (17). En fonction de l'utilisation de l'instrument, par exemple de son diamètre, de sa conicité, de la courbure du canal dentaire à excaver et de la durée prévue de l'opération, un certain nombre d'éléments détachables sont détachés ou un certain nombre de préperforations sont perforées (17'). Lorsque le nombre d'éléments détachables ou le nombre de préperforations (17) restant sur le dispositif est inférieur au nombre d'éléments à détacher ou à perforer en fonction des paramètres de l'opération prévue, l'instrument odontologique ne doit plus être utilisé. Ce dispositif permet de prévenir la rupture de l'instrument odontologique dans un canal dentaire.
