A filter and a hollow-fiber or flat-sheet membrane for removing hemoglobin from whole blood or blood fractions are disclosed. The filter comprises a laid textile web which has been modified to attach a ligand for hemoglobin. The membrane comprises a polyethersulfone membrane that has been similarly modified. Methods for removing hemoglobin, cellular components and debris from blood are also disclosed.

Filtre et membrane à fibres creuses ou à feuille plate permettant d'éliminer l'hémoglobine qui se trouve dans du sang ou dans des fractions sanguines. Ledit filtre comprend une bande de tissu tramé à mailles cueillies, qui a été modifié pour y fixer un ligand destiné à l'hémoglobine, et ladite membrane comprend une membrane au polyéthersulfone qui a été modifiée de la même manière. Cette invention concerne également des procédés d'élimination de l'hémoglobine, des constituants cellulaires et des débris présents dans du sang.
