ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device for preventing the adhesion of materials, especially bituminous materials, to the surface of road rollers. The device includes a mat which extends over the whole width of the roll, and which is provided with a spray tube and means preventing axial flow of water over the roll edges. Such means may be flaps, or the closed end of a slit or row of apertures extending the major length of the mat. Also, pocket-forming arc-shaped ridges may be used on the side of the mat facing the roll surface.
