ABSTRACT The invention relates to a front jaw (1) having a device for indicating predetermined release values, which front jaw (1) has a housing (2) and a sleeve (5) which is longitudinally adjustable with respect to said housing and against the force of a release spring (6) supported on the housing (2). The sleeve (5) is fastened to one end of a pull rod (8), an other end of said pull rod carrying a release plate (8b) under which the shorter lever arms of two toggle levers (12a, 12b) grip. The housing (2) has an essentially rectangular recess (2b) therein and a window (3) in this recess, with the window (3) enabling the reading of release values indicated by a pointer (9). In order to assure in such a device an exact reading of the release value even when the sleeve (5), during a stepping in with the ski shoe, experiences a change in position relative to the housing (2), the invention provides that the sleeve (5) at its upper side facing the scale (3b) has a surface (5c) extending at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the housing (2), and that the pointer (9) is associated with both the angularly extending surface (5c) of the sleeve (5) and also with the scale (3b).
