The device (1) comprises a guidance system (8) for aiding guidance of the aircraft, in the event of the actuation of a control means (11A, 11B, 11n), both during an initial phase in accordance with a first guidance mode and during a terminal phase in accordance with a second guidance mode, the transition between these first and second guidance modes being achieved automatically by the guidance system (8).
