ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In a device for automatically aligning the contours of two plies to be sewed one upon the other three superimposed blades are hinged to one another at one end by means of a cross pin to form a double pliers. Distally from this pin, there is an elastic means which can be calibrated and which tends to press the middle blade against the lower blade and the upper blade against the middle blade. There is also a means to vary the angular opening between the three blades and, means to adjust the maximum and minimum angular opening between the blades. Futhermore, a tripartite abuting means defines the alignment position of the contours of the two plies (inserted in the spaces between blades) to be sewed while there is also a means to bring the plies into alignment on an air pad or by friction.
