For measuring an angle of incidence of a luminous beam, one employs a polarized luminous beam which is brought to pass through a birefringent plate followed by an analysing polarizer, in order to obtain a succession of fringes of interference, and one analyses by means of an appropriate detector and an electronic circuit the spacings between the crests of said fringes, said spacings being a direct function of the angle to be measured. One can utilize a measuring device of an angle of incidence for measuring the distance between said device and a reflecting surface of the object to be measured, by determining for a certain position of the object a spacing of reference between the crests of the fringes of interference and by measuring the variations of the spacings as a function of the position of the object, in order to display them in units of length. With such a method, it is possible to measure the angles of incidence or distances with a device of small dimensions and with a measuring range broader than before and with an increased precision.
Pour mesurer l'angle d'incidence d'un faisceau lumineux, on utilise un faisceau de lumière polarisée qui doit traverser une plaque biréfringente suivie d'un polariseur d'analyse pour obtenir une suite de franges d'interférence, puis, à l'aide d'un détecteur appropriée et d'un circuit électronique, on analyse l'espacement entre les crêtes des franges, cet espacement variant avec l'angle à mesurer. On peut utiliser un dispositif mesurant l'angle d'incidence pour mesurer la distance entre ce dispositif et une surface réfléchissante de l'objet examiné en déterminant pour une position données de cet objet un espacement de référence entre les crêtes des franges d'interférence et en mesurant la variation de cet espacement en fonction de la position de l'objet pour l'afficher en fonction d'une unité de longueur appropriée. Cette méthode permet d'utiliser un dispositif de petites dimensions pour mesurer les angles d'incidence et les distances, et d'obtenir une gamme de mesures plus large et une plus grande précision qu'avec les méthodes actuelles.
