The invention relates to a device (20) and a method for making visible security elements present in an object (4) and comprising at least one photoluminescent segment which is characterised by linearly polarised photoluminescence and/or linearly polarised absorption. According to the invention, a good contrast is achieved with few interfering signals, by arranging at least one light source (1) and at least one polarisation filter (2) in such a way that the light (24) from the light source (1) is linearly polarised (23) by means of the polarisation filter (2) and hits the object (4) or the photoluminescent segments in said object, and photoluminescent light (25) from the segments can be observed through another and/or the same polarisation filter (2).

L'invention concerne un dispositif (20) et un procédé permettant de visualiser des éléments de sécurité présents dans un objet (4), qui présentent au moins un segment photoluminescent, caractérisé par une photoluminescence polarisée de manière linéaire et/ou une absorption polarisée de manière linéaire. Un bon contraste est obtenu, avec peu de signaux parasites, du fait qu'au moins une source lumineuse (1) et au moins un filtre de polarisation (2) sont disposés de sorte que la lumière (24) de la source lumineuse (1) soit polarisée de manière linéaire par un filtre de polarisation (2) et atteigne l'objet (4) et les segments photoluminescents présents dedans et que la lumière (25) photoluminescente provenant du segment concerné puisse être observée par un autre filtre de polarisation (2) et/ou par le même filtre de polarisation.
