A novel garlic cutter is provided herein. Such garlic cutter includes a housing bearing a cutting blade at a lower part thereof and an upper part with a punch affixed thereto. The upper part, when in an operational state and during rotation relative to the housing, carries out an axial displacement toward a co-rotating cutting grid. An inner structure is adapted to receive garlic and is rotatably supported in the housing. The inner structure has a cutting grid. A punch affixed to a spindle is together disposed within the inner structure. A coupling is provided for coupling the inner structure and the housing. The coupling is operable between an open state and an operational state. When in the open state, the coupling allows free longitudinal displacement of the spindle and inner structure with respect to the housing. When in the operational state, the coupling engages the spindle selectively to permit longitudinal displacement of the spindle and the inner structure with respect to the housing.

L'invention concerne un dispositif pour couper de l'ail, comportant un corps de boîtier qui présente une lame (8) au niveau de son côté inférieur. Ce dispositif comporte également une partie supérieure (2) à laquelle est fixé un poinçon (12). Lorsque ce dernier se trouve dans une position de fonctionnement et tourne par rapport au corps de boîtier (6), il exécute un mouvement axial vers une grille de coupe (5b) entraînée en rotation. Un corps intérieur, dans lequel est placé l'ail, est monté de façon rotative dans le corps de boîtier (6) et présente une grille de coupe (5b). Le poinçon (12) placé sur une broche (4) pénètre à l'intérieur de ce corps intérieur. Il est en outre prévu des éléments qui, en position de fonctionnement, assurent un contact avec la broche (4) et, en position d'ouverture, permettent un coulissement longitudinal de la broche (4).
