DEVICE FOR COATING FREE-FLOWING MEDIA ONTO A MOVING WEB ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for coating free-flowing media onto a moving paper web includes two rotatably mounted rolls having parallel axes and being driven in opposite directions. The two rolls define a roll gap for the passage of a paper web therethrough. Cooperating with each roll is an application unit for applying a free-flowing medium onto a lateral surface of the roll. A spreading device is disposed downstream of the roll gap at a side of the paper web and substantially contacts the paper web across a width thereof.
