A device for comminuting agglomerates of particles in a suspension is described. The device has a container (2) for receiving the suspension and at least one piston (6) which can be moved in the container (2) in particular in a reciprocating manner in order to move a suspension between two spatial regions (16, 18) of a cylinder chamber (4) of the container (2), the two spatial regions (16, 18) being connected together by at least one flow path (12) for the suspension which defines a constriction.
