The invention concerns a portable device enabling a text to be constructed by an input interface (1), then to be sent on a voice synthesis engine (3). The synthesized voice is rendered audible through a loudspeaker (5b). The synthesized voice can also be sent over the telephone network addressed to another telephone. The device thus enables a person with a speech handicap to communicate with a party who is not used to communication by sign language.

Le dispositif de l'invention est un dispositif portable permettant de construire un texte par une interface d'entrée (1), puis de l'envoyer sur un moteur de synthèse vocale (3). La voix synthétisée est rendue audible grâce à un haut-parleur (5b). La voix synthétisée peut également être envoyée sur le réseau téléphonique à destination d'un autre téléphone. Le dispositif permet ainsi à un utilisateur handicapé de la parole de communiquer avec un interlocuteur qui n'est pas habitué à la communication par le langage des signes.
