ABSTRACT Pipe line couplings of a multiple section conduit are so arranged that axial displacement within each coupling is limited only to a distance required for a given angular deflection between the respective pipe sections, which is usually about 5°. Additional axial displacement is provided at points outside the coupling. The relatively small axial displacement within the coupling reduces wear of the seal and renders the overall coupling more compact.
