A magnetic brake, which for casting of two elongate strands in parallel generates at least one static or periodic low frequency magnetic field. The chill mold has a rectangular casting mold (10) with an inner partition (13) which subdivides the rectangular casting mold into two sub-molds (11a, 11b) and the magnetic field acts with essentially the same magnetic field direction across the entire width of the rectangular casting mold, and has an essentially symmetrical distribution in the both sub-molds. The brake has a first magnet at a first long-side of the rectangular casting mold and a second magnet of opposite polarity at the opposite second long-side of the rectangular casting mold. The magnetic material in the magnets is such distributed, that both magnets each have two magnetic sub-poles of the same polarity arranged adjacent to each other along each of the two long-sides of the rectangular casting mold. Each sub-pole is symmetrically arranged along the long-side of the respective sub-mold.
L'invention concerne un frein magnétique qui génère au moins un champ magnétique basse fréquence statique ou périodique lors du coulage de lignes parallèles dans une coquille. La coquille présente un moule (10) rectangulaire doté d'une séparation (13) interne qui le subdivise en deux sous-moules (11a, 11b). Le champ magnétique agit avec une direction sensiblement identique sur toute la largeur du moule rectangulaire et a une répartition sensiblement symétrique dans les deux sous-moules. Le frein possède un premier aimant plaqué sur un premier grand côté du moule rectangulaire et un second aimant de polarité opposée plaqué sur le second grand côté opposé. Le matériau magnétique des aimants est réparti de telle façon que les deux aimants ont chacun deux sous-poles magnétiques de même polarité placés adjacents sur chacun des deux grands côtés du moule rectangulaire. Chaque sous-pole est placé de façon symétrique le long du grand côté du sous-moule respectif.
