- 1 - Abstract In a device for controlling a plurality of servo motors on printing presses, particularly for adjusting the ink or damping-solution thickness profile on offset printing presses having several printing units and a plurality of servo motors assigned to individual zones of each prin- ting unit, said servo motors being able to be switched on and off by a means of a control unit, the control unit such that, as long as there is an actuation command for more servo motors that the power supply because of its limited capacity can feed, the control unit irrespective of the assignment of the servo motors to certain printing units always connects so many motors to the power supply that the total current consumption does not exceed the capacity of the power supply. The control unit can either keep the number of switched-on servo motors constant or can cause them to be switched on as a function of the current supplied to all connected servo motors. The selection of which motors are to be switched on may be made subject to a system of priorities. In this way it is possible to make do with a power supply of rela- tively low capacity while at the same time the desired ink or damping-solution thickness profile is set very quickly because no waiting time whatsoever is lost and the power supply is always optimally utilized as long as other servo motors are waiting to be switched on.
