ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device is disclosed for controlling a process variable of a flowing medium. The device includes a controlled section (10), a heat exchanger (11), a feed line (12) associated with the former, a discharge line (13) associated with the heat exchanger and a connecting line (14) arranged in parallel with the heat exchanger. The device further includes a first throttle member (15) through which flows the medium of the controlled section (10), and a second throttle member (16) disposed in the connecting line (14). At least two sensors (33, 35) for measuring the operational particulars are arranged in the controlled section (10). The sensors are used in determining two operation figures typical for a normal operation with the actual figures of the instant operation. They are operatively associated with a comparator (31) for the generation of a differential signal. A control circuit (20) is provided which includes a measuring element, in this case a flow meter (21) for the second operational figure of the medium flowing through the controlled section (10). The control circuit further includes a controller (28) and the first throttle member (15). The comparator (31) is associated at its outlet with the control circuit (20) on the one hand and with the second throttle member (16). The invention presents an improvement of the control device as it reacts faster to deviations from the desired operation figures.
