Device (10) for converting electromagnetic radiation energy into electrical energy, comprising at least a photovoltaic element (11) with a radiation-sensitive surface, wherein a covering layer (12) of a material comprising a silicon compound, to which a rare earth element has been added, is present on said radiation-sensitive surface, characterized in that the material of the covering layer comprises a compound of silicon and nitrogen. Good results were obtained with a compound such as Sr2Si5N8:Eu.

L'invention concerne un dispositif (10) permettant de convertir une énergie de rayonnement électromagnétique en énergie électrique, comprenant au moins un élément photovoltaïque (11) comportant une surface sensible aux rayonnements, une couche de couverture (12) constituée d'un matériau comprenant un composé de silicium, auquel un élément de lanthanides a été ajouté, se trouve sur ladite surface sensible aux rayonnements, caractérisé en ce que le matériau de la couche de couverture comprend un composé de silicium et d'azote. De bons résultats ont été obtenus avec un composé tel que Sr2Si5N8.
