A device is disclosed for cooking food, in particular a grilling or baking device. It has a system for heating the air, optionally a grate (5), and hollow sections (6) through which a coolant flows, arranged on two different levels above the air-heating system. The hollow sections on at least one fo the levels have upper faces in the form of channels and act as drainage channels (10) for the juices from the food being cooked. The hollow sections on the two different levels are horizontally mutually offset and means (9) are provided to prevent juices from the food from getting into the glowing grate.
