ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides apparatus for correcting or otherwise changing positive film material for photocomposition, wherein an area to be changed in an original film is masked photographically by being coloured red and a changed area is substituted therefor, a proof film having an area to be sub- stituted for the area to be changed is provided, the proof film except for the area to be substituted is masked by masking means, the red colouring covering the area to be changed completely but being kept so restricted that the masking means necessary to demarcate the area to be substituted from the adjacent areas of the proof film, on its projection, at no point results in any contact between the red coloured area and the masking means, and the red colouring and masking permitting an optical alignment by the eye, but during exposure being non-transparent to the pro- jection light, wherein said area on the proof film, bounded by the masking means, is projectible with an optical system provided with mirrors, on a desired part of a ground glass plate, and one of the mirrors projection on the final film disposed to permit selective projection of said area on the proof film on either of a final film and the ground glass plate.
