The invention relates to a device for covering shafts, or similar, in the public highway domain, comprising a tube (3), running in a sliding manner within a cover ring (2), which is fixed to the shaft (1) and a retaining ring (4), for housing a shaft cover, arranged in the region of the road surface (6). A flexible connection with a simple construction may be achieved, whereby the retaining ring (4) is detachably mounted to the tube (3) with a limited range of movement.
