A device for weeding and cultivating. The device has a cutting portion and a handle portion. The cutting portion generally takes a question mark shape with a flat segment having a rounded tip, a radiused segment, a tangential segment and a vertical segment. A bevel or taper is disposed on the bottom of the cutting portion near the edge and extends around the periphery of the flat segment and extends into the the radiused segment and the tangential segment. The cutting portion can be AISI 1050 hot rolled steel and the steel can have chrome added for rust resistance. Heat treatment of the cutting portion to R 55 -58c gives a tensile strength of approximateley 140,000 psi. Holes are disposed through the vertical segment. The handle also has holes and a slot which is fitted to the cutting portion and the handle is secured to the cutting portion with rivets or nuts and bolts. The handle can be replaced by disengaging the bolts from the nuts and removing the bolts from throught the cutting portion and substituting another handle and reengaging the bolts through the cutting portion and through the handle and tightening the nuts. The handle can be formed from wood, generally a hardwood.
