A B S T R A C T This invention is a device for producing a large number of fibres generally from a thin wire, where- upon a cutting mechanism imparts a high initial speed to the wire which is then cut and possibly stabilised by being passed through a funnel-shaped opening into a pipe whose diameter is less than the length of the fibres. The invention relates furthermore to a method of using fibres to bond and reinforce, for example concrete, and to manufacture sandwich panels in which the concrete is applied to the fibres shot into a spacing material.
