The present invention provides a vibration damping device capable of effectively damping the vibration during the rotation of rotor without disturbing the miniaturization of the peripheral structure of the rotor. The vibration damping device (10) is provided with a support member (20) fixedly secured to a rotor shaft (14) and a vibration damping member (22) nipped between a main mass (12) of the rotor and the support member (20). One axial end surface (26a) of a flange (26) of the support member (20) is positioned generally perpendicular to an axis of the shaft (14). The vibration damping member (22) is made of a visco-elastic material and fixedly connected, respectively, with one axial end surface (12a) of the main mass (12) and with the axial end surface (26a) of the support member (20) arranged in parallel and opposite to the former axial end surface (12a) apart therefrom at a distance. When the vibration occurs during the rotation of the rotor, the vibration damping member (22) nipped between the axial end surfaces (12a) and (26a) deforms in a visco-elastic manner to mitigate and rapidly damp the vibration.

Dispositif amortisseur de vibrations pouvant efficacement amortir les vibrations pendant la rotation d'un rotor sans altérer la miniaturisation de la structure périphérique du rotor. Le dispositif amortisseur de vibrations (10) est pourvu d'un élément support (20) solidaire d'un arbre (14) du rotor, et d'un élément amortisseur de vibrations (22) pincé entre la masse principale (12) du rotor et l'élément support (20). La face terminale axiale (26a) d'une bride (26) de l'élément support (20) s'étend dans un plan généralement perpendiculaire à l'axe de l'arbre (14). L'élément amortisseur de vibrations (22) est en matériau viscoélastique et solidaire respectivement d'une face terminale axiale (12a) de la masse principale (12) et de la face terminale axiale (26a) de l'élément support (20), de sorte que cette face s'étend parallèlement à la première face terminale axiale (12a) et en regard de celle-ci, tout en étant séparée par une certaine distance. Lorsque les vibrations se manifestent pendant la rotation du rotor, l'élément amortisseur de vibrations (22) pincé entre les faces terminales axiales (12a et 26a) se déforme de manière viscoélastique afin d'atténuer les vibrations et de les amortir rapidement.
