19 ABSTRACT: "Device for detecting the position of an object." A position detection device is described which comprises a radiation source and a detection system com- prising at least two radiation-sensitive detectors which are arranged in line with each other in a direction of movement of the object. By means of a prism arranged be- tween the radiation source and the detection system and having a large apex angle, the lock-in range of the device can be extended substantially, so that the device is suitable for positioning objects which move rapidly and/or have a large mass.
