Bodies (5) are driven along a predetermined course, possibly on corresponding rails by being coupled to a hauling means which is arranged substantially in parallel with the predetermined course with the help of pairs of co-operating coupling elements. The hauling means is e.g. designed as an endless hauling tape (1) guided over deflection rollers (2) and simultaneously serving as first coupling element. For the coupling function, the hauling tape (1) is elastically deformable perpendicular to its length, e.g. compressible and cooperates with a second coupling element arranged on the body (5) to be driven. The second coupling element is designed as a groove (6) matched to the hauling tape (1) having two open ends and extending in parallel to the predetermined course into which groove a length of the hauling tape is positionable. For coupling the body (5) to the hauling tape (1) these are guided towards each other such that the hauling tape (1) is pressed into the groove (6), whereby a displacement perpendicular to the predetermined course is prevented by suitable guide means (2, U). The bodies (5) to be driven can e.g. be designed as conveying means such that the device is applicable as a conveying device. of the filter media
