ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Powders having a relatively low powder density can be emptied from transportation containers only with dust formation on an undesired large scale. The device for emptying containers filled with powders of the invention comprises a vacuum pipe, a fluidization device disposed thereon adjacent the open end of said pipe. This fluidization device may have the shape of a double cone shell disposed concentrically around the pipe or of a hollow sphere disposed concentrically around the pipe. The fluidizing air can be passed into the powder through boreholes disposed in the direction of the opening of the pipe. In order to prevent the vacuum pipe from becoming attached to the container wall by suction, the opening of the vacuum pipe has castellated rims.
