ABSTRACT - This invention concerns a transmission channel estimating device. The estimating device (2) of a transmission channel (1) in a known manner receives at one end of this channel (1) a training sequence (ri) corresponding to a learning sequence (si) produced at the other end of the channel (1), also generates the learning sequence (si) and proceeds to correlate the learning (si) and training (ri) sequences to produce a set of correlation coefficients (hi). According to the invention, it also includes means for correction to cancel out the coefficients (hi) that have the weakest modules, such that the sum of the squares of the modules for these coefficients is less than a fraction (S) of the sum of the squares of the modules for all correlation coefficients (hi). ABREGE La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'estimation d'un canal de transmission Le dispositif d'estimation (2) d'un canal de transmission (1), de manière connue, reçoit à une extrémité de ce canal (1) une séquence d'entraînement (ri) correspondant à une séquence d'apprentissage (si) produite à l'autre extrémité du canal (1), génére également la séquence d'apprentissage (si) et procède à la corrélation des séquences d'apprentissage (si) et d'entraînement (ri) pour produire un jeu de coefficients de corrélation (hi). Selon l'invention, il comprend de plus des moyens de correction pour annuler les coefficients (hi) ayant les modules les plus faibles de sorte que la somme des carrés des modules de ces coefficients soit inférieure à une fraction (S) de la somme des carrés des modules de tous les coefficients de corrélation (hi).
