This device for evaluating the transmission quality of an optical amplifier comprises: means (5) for sampling, upstream of the said amplifying equipment in relation to the direction of propagation of the optical signal to be amplified by this amplifying equipment, part of the power of an optical signal being propagated in the direction opposite to the said direction of propagation, and corresponding to the portion, emitted in the direction opposite to the said direction of propagation, of the noise created by the said amplifying equipment; means (6) for sampling, downstream of the said amplifying equipment, part of the power of an optical signal being propagated in the said direction of propagation, and corresponding to the superimposition of the optical signal amplified by the said amplifying equipment and the portion, emitted in the said direction of propagation, of the noise created by this amplifying equipment; means (8) for evaluating the signal-to-noise ratio of the said amplifying equipment, from the optical strengths thus sampled.
Ce dispositif d'évaluation de la qualité de transmission d'un amplificateur optique comporte : - des moyens (5) pour prélever, en amont dudit équipement amplificateur, par rapport au sens de propagation du signal optique à amplifier par cet équipement amplicateur, une partie de la puissance d'un signal optique se propageant en sens contraire dudit sens de propagation, et correspondant à la partie, émise en sens contraire dudit sens de propagation, du bruit créé par ledit équipement amplificateur, - des moyens (6) pour prélever, en aval dudit équipement amplificateur, une partie de la puissance d'un signal optique se propageant dans ledit sens de propagation, et correspondant à la superposition du signal optique amplifié par ledit équipement amplificateur et de la partie, émise dans ledit sens de propagation, du bruit créé par cet équipement amplificateur, - des moyens (8) pour évaluer le rapport signal-sur-bruit dudit équipement amplificateur, à partir des puissances optiques ainsi prélevées.
