The device for firing ammunition has a combustion chamber (3) which accommodates several propellant charge bodies (11) containing a propellant charge (21) and an ignition means (35) for the ignition of the propellant charge (21). There is provided at the combustion chamber (3) a fixed primary coil (17) which receives an ignition signal, while in each propellant charge body (11) there is arranged a secondary coil (31) which is connected to the ignition means resistor (33) initiating the ignition means (35). The temporally variable magnetic field generated by the primary coil passes through the combustion chamber (3) and induces a current in the secondary coils (31) in each of the propellant charge bodies at the same time, so that the ignition means (35) of all the propellant charge bodies are activated simultaneously and all the propellant charges (21) ignite at once. Due to the simultaneous ignition of the propellant charge bodies, rapid firing sequences can be achieved.
