ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a device for forming a bale of compressed vegetation, having a pressed cage supported on a chassis, said pressing cage having an opening for the vegeta- tion and a pickup system for gathering the vegetation. The pre- ssing cage is of a polygonal, preferably a quadrilateral or rec- tangular cross-section, and is bounded by at least approximately flat rigid side walls, the input opening and the pressing cage being adjustable relative to each other such that it is possible to achieve an even charge throughout the whole cross-section of the pressing cage.
