DEVICE FOR FRACTURING A HYDROCARBON PRODUCING FORMATION Abstract of the Disclosure An apparatus for stimulating hydrocarbon well production uses a gas generating propellant placed in the well casing ad- jacent perforations communicating with a formation of known hydro- carbon productivity. The propellant is ignited to generate gas at sufficient pressure and in sufficient volume to fracture the formation to thereby improve its deliverability. The propellant is designed to minimize the production of unburned propellant particles which are prone to plug casing perforations or naturally occuring high permeability streaks and interfere with formation fracturing.
